For the third time ever, we’re offering the opportunity to observe at close quarters how Nick manages a typical home orchard. The session is aimed at home gardeners who aren’t too sure, or are absolute beginners, and will cover the formative pruning hows and whys of various stone- and pome fruit, and citrus. We will also make time to discuss the various pruning tools we use in our every-day: saws, snippers and why we don’t use loppers so much anymore. The aim of the session is to work through the pruning of each of the fruit trees on this private property and (if time permits) to remove a couple that have had their day and replace them with new fruit. So, participants will have the opportunity to observe and discuss our planting methods, and the initial pruning cuts on the new trees. Discussion also on why we should formatively prune our fruit trees every year. This will be fairly intensive, so bring weather-appropriate clothes and boots, and your questions.
Times will be strictly adhered to due to the movement and timings of other people around the site, and bookings (including payment) are absolutely necessary.
